Who We Are - The RD&I Committee:

 

“Initiated by our partners, we are a dedicated group of employees, committed to fostering a culture of respect, embracing diversity and promoting inclusion throughout our organisation.”

Maybe that sounds a little formal, maybe if we said;

“We are a number of SHW colleagues, volunteering to ensure that our company is the friendliest, warmest and most supportive company to be a part of, irrespective of all else”.

Then perhaps this sounds a little more humanised, a little warmer, something we can all get behind with a little more enthusiasm.

We are a group of people engaged and wholeheartedly dedicated to achieving the objectives laid out above, because ultimately, whichever statement fits for you, it is reached by delivering a Respectful, Diverse & Inclusive environment to drive positive change within SHW.

Our Mission Statement:

 

The committee has created a list of objectives and areas of focus, which has followed a review of our staff survey and professional training by a D&I expert. At the very least, we want to meet the minimum expectations of ensuring everyone has a safe and welcome place in our company. But more than that we aim to exceed expectations. We want to create habits and not just react to those around us. Ultimately we don't want to be a token, put in place because the industry expects us to, but to be a bona fide group that embraces the opportunity that is ahead of us in our rapidly evolving environment.

 

How do we do it:

 

Together. We ensure that the RD&I committee is a continued presence within SHW, we ensure there is always a place for a voice to be heard; positive feedback, concerns, suggestions, all voices and topics are heard equally. Our committee works closely with D&I professionals, ensuring we are armed with the training we need to deliver the most inclusive and respectful workplace possible. And we care, we are passionate about what we do, our committee alone have such diverse perspectives around D&I, so we know how magnified that diversity becomes company wide.

Our focus is completely across the board, across all aspects of D&I, and we catagorise them within the following:

LEADERSHIP - Championing inclusive leadership at all levels to ensure diverse voices are heard, valued, and embedded in decision-making.

RECRUITMENT - Building fair and equitable recruitment practices that attract and support candidates from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

COMMUNICATION - Fostering open, respectful, and accessible communication that reflects and celebrates the diversity of our people.

DEVELOPMENT & EDUCATION - Providing continuous learning opportunities that raise awareness of inclusion, challenge bias, and support personal and professional growth.

ENVIRONMENT - Creating a safe, inclusive, and accessible workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive.

WELLBEING - Supporting the mental, emotional, and physical wellbeing of all employees through inclusive practices and policies that meet diverse needs.
