SHW Volunteers Support Bears Wood for Fifth Consecutive Year

A team from SHW’s South London office returned to Bears Wood Camp Site in Croydon for the fifth year running, continuing their commitment to helping maintain and improve this well‑used community space.
This year’s visit focused on clearing two areas of long‑embedded rocks and old hardcore, removing several large lorry and digger tyres, and levelling land that will be used as additional camping grounds in the future. Volunteers also helped move wood and large logs as part of the site’s ongoing Woodland Management Programme.
It was a physically demanding day, but one carried out with the enthusiasm and teamwork that has defined SHW’s involvement over the years. Each visit leaves a visible impact, supporting the site’s continued development for the benefit of young people and local groups.

Thanks to the dedication of its non‑resident campsite team, and the ongoing support of volunteers like those from SHW, Bears Wood continues to evolve and strengthen its facilities for future visitors.
