SHW - Architecture and Fleet volunteer at FareShare Guildford

CSR

SHW’s Architecture and Fleet office spent the day in Guildford helping at local charity FareShare where they all took on various jobs to help the charity in the day to day running of their Guildford depot. FareShare take surplus food and then work hard to maximise its potential and social value by getting it to charities and community groups who support people in our communities.

Julia Kordes, SHW Associate Architect commented, “We had a great afternoon there to learn all about the support they provide to the community. It was eye -opening to understand on where the food they re-distribute comes from and that it would have otherwise gone to waste and into landfill, just because of over-production, change of packaging or a simple change of ingredients that makes it no longer viable for selling. The team enjoyed the experience of helping for the afternoon and we all felt that it was very rewarding helping such a good cause.”

Jack Clapham, Chartered Building Surveyor at SHW said “We had a great afternoon supporting FareShare Sussex & Surrey and to learn about all the support they provide to the community. I enjoyed the experience, and it felt rewarding helping such a good cause - even if it was only a small token towards the hard work they undertake daily.”

FareShare, Sussex and Surrey are SHW’s second charity partner for 2025, alongside Nightwatch Croydon, now in the second year of its partnership.

Dan Slatter Chief Executive Officer for FareShare Sussex & Surrey commented, “Thank you Jack Clapham and the SHW Property team for coming to join us volunteering at our Guildford Depot. We are so grateful.”
