SHW - CSR & Social - 6 Month Catch Up!

CSR

We made it!!! Another 12 months of the CSR and Social Calendar ticked off, we aimed for bigger and better than 2024, and, thanks to everyone that got involved, we absolutely smashed that aim, new events, new venues, new faces, record numbers and record donations, made 2025 a year to remember! Below is a snap shot of the last 6 months of the calendar.

July – Volleyball – Brighton

60 Participants, £425 raised for our chosen charities!

Rain, Resilience, Rivalry & More…

SHW’s undisputed No.1 social event, for spectators and participants alike, volleyball at Yellow Wave in Brighton. The tournament brought together colleagues for a day of friendly (sometimes) & competitive (often) competition, a healthy dose of fun, a smattering of laughter, a handful of epic fails and a lorry load of memorable moments.

All whilst avoiding the typical English summer showers!!

August – Hockey & Football – Christs Hospital, Horsham

43 Participants, £340 raised for our chosen charities!

Pitch Perfect: Hockey Flicks & Football Kicks

A glorious sunny afternoon welcomed us to the heart of rural Sussex. Occasional bouts of Hockey and Football threatened to break out, as competitors scrambled for so much needed shade, whilst also trying to avoid having to share sweaty bibs! But in all honest it was the famous Boars Head buffet that was the real reason for everyone turning up!

August – Tennis – Kingswood Tennis Club

26 Participants, £200 raised for our chosen charities!

SHWing-Fest - Pickle Balls & Soggy Bottoms

In an attempt to avoid the September showers this year’s SHW Tennis – introducing Pickle – was given a prime August spot on the calendar. Sadly, the outcome was unchanged with, for the third year on the trot, play interrupted by a sudden down pour!

However, it takes more than a little British drizzle to put off these hardy SHW folk, and but for a short delay, play was large undisrupted. In fact, some late evening sunshine brought the curtain down on another wonderful edition of SHW Tennis (And Pickle!).

September - Staff Golf - Limpsfield Chart Golf Club

28 Participants, £300 raised for our chosen charities!

Soggy Socks & Slippery Slopes

A damp and drizzly day (seemed to be a bit of a theme on the calendar!) welcomed the annual SHW Staff Golf, with this year’s host Limpsfield Chart Golf Club providing the back drop for a hotly contested 9 holes.

Not only new faces to SHW were welcomed, but also new faces to the game of Golf itself, topped up by the usual SHW Golf Pro’s all aiming to get their hands on the revered Trophy. A great afternoon despite the weather, and wonderful hosts too!

October – Yoga – The Yoga Garden, Horsham

28 Participants, £280 raised for our chosen charities!

Savasanas, Hathas & Warriors - A Mindfulness Masterclass

Our debut event for the second half of the 2025 calendar saw SHW go off grid for an afternoon of gentle stretching and deep breathing. Not sure anyone was quite sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a fabulously relaxed afternoon, great company, great hosts, and a delightful supper by an open fire in their picturesque barn. Definitely one to hang around on the calendar for 2026!

November - Padel - The Padel Hub, Burgess Hill

51 Participants, £400 raised for our chosen charities!

Padel Pandemonium: Capes, Falls & Lobs!

Our final event of the 2025 social calendar saw a return to the Padel Hub in Burgess Hill. Last years event hosted almost a quarter of the company, and 2026 was no different. With colleagues from far and wide descending on West Sussex for a gentle swing or an epic competitive showdown!

Once again the competitive league was hotly contested, with controversy aplenty. While some on the “social” courts showed some delightful skills, posing the question; will they step up next year in an attempt to get there hands on a cheap SHW medal??

And with that, the curtain was brought down on 2025.

Alongside the “sporting” events, the second half of the year saw a number of other initiatives take part, in July SHW promoted the Plastic Free Movement, The Brighton Matrix committee hosted their own Volleyball event, while the Crawley office volunteered their time to support FreeShop, returning once again to help prepare them for their annual fare. The London office followed suit by supporting the Felix Project in the east of the capital, a delivery partner of FareShare, the team helped with logistics & food prep throughout their warehouse. Client Golf and Shooting were yet again resounding successes and World Mental Health Day was supported in October, while in the South more time was volunteered to help support one of our chosen charity partners; FareShare, packing and preparing food for the Sussex region. A further Cake Bake and an office dog day rounded everything off…….and that is just about that!

You might like to know exactly how much we did smash 2025, well with all your efforts and with the benefit of gift aid, we have for the first time, smashed the £5K mark. It's an incredible achievement and something that we should all be proud of!

The 2026 calendar is already being drawn up, but until then, enjoy the break. And once again, thank you to each and everyone of you for your support in 2025!

These events not only provide an outlet for all our colleagues to get together, relax, exercise and generally mix across all our different offices, but of course also in support of our chosen charity, FareShare – Sussex & Surrey, a food recycling organisation and NightWatch – Croydon, an organisation helping to support the homeless. Every penny donated and every minute of support we can provide truly makes a massive difference.
