During 2023, SHW merged with the specialist retail consultancy, Ashwell Rogers, to enhance the businesses’ involvement in the Out of Town Retail and Leisure Sector across the UK. The team have a long standing commitment to this sector with extensive experience in advising owners and developers on their out of town retail and leisure property holdings nationally.

Our team have close links with many of the major owners and investors in the sector and provide on agency, lease advisory and investment matters. We also provide development advice to our clients in developing new schemes or upgrading and refurbishing existing holdings.

 

We have also advised some of the leading retailers in the sector on both their acquisition and lease advisory strategy and retain good contacts with the leading retailers and leisure operators active in this market.

Agency

Our agency expertise includes letting and acquisition of retail units, advice on retail strategy and implementation of programmes to add value through strategic asset management of existing holdings for both owners and occupiers. 

Lease Advisory

Our team includes specialists in all aspects of landlord and tenant matters including the negotiation of rent reviews, lease renewals and lease re-gears.  We are experienced at representing clients at Third Party and in Court situations.  

 

Both Jeremy and Ian also act as Expert Witnesses in rental disputes in respect of both Arbitration and referrals to Independent Expert. In addition, they act as Expert Witnesses at Court or PACT on lease renewal disputes as well as in other cases involving rental valuation issues.

 

They are also regularly appointed both by the RICS and privately to act as Arbitrator or Independent Expert in rental disputes at rent review or in PACT cases at lease renewal.

 

Investment

We advise on the acquisition and disposal of investment property in both the retail and leisure sectors combining our agency knowledge, professional expertise and negotiating skills to achieve the best possible outcomes.

THE TEAM - JEREMY GOOD

Jeremy specialises in the out of town retail and leisure sector. He has over 30 years of experience in the retail sector predominantly in the lease advisory arena but also advising clients in agency, investment and strategic asset management initiatives. 

In the out of town retail sector Jeremy acts predominantly for Landlords dealing with rent reviews, lease renewals and strategic lease consultancy matters.  He has acted for a wide range of owners/investors including Abrdn, Columbia Threadneedle, Mayfair Capital, SEGRO and Peel Investments.

Jeremy is also an experienced Third Party Dispute Resolver in the out of town retail sector being on the President of the RICS’ Panel of Arbitrators and Independent Experts and is regularly appointed to act in rent review disputes in both capacities.  He is also experienced with dealing the lease renewals both at Court and through PACT.  Jeremy is actively involved with the RICS as an APC Assessor.

 

THE TEAM - IAN CAMPBELL

Ian is a Partner in the Lease Advisory and Retail Agency teams with over 40 years of experience in the field.

Ian acts predominantly for Landlords in respect of lease renewals, rent reviews and regears, both in the Out of Town and High Street markets.  Over the past four decades Ian has maximised the value of various client’s property portfolios, who currently include Columbia Threadneedle, Peel Investments and Freshwater, amongst others.

Working directly for clients including the Lords Group of Companies and Cats Protection, Ian has also been instructed to acquire both retail and industrial warehouse space for their operational use. Since 2008, Ian has been a member of the RICS Panel of Arbitrators and Independent Experts, and regularly receives appointments to resolve rental disputes on a variety of properties across England and Wales in both capacities.
