Medici Performing Arts Centre, Surrey

Architecture, Education

In 2015 we built a new Performing Arts Centre for a prestigious school in Surrey as part of a major expansion programme.

The building has a 310 seat theatre, fitted with state-of-the art LED lighting and audio equipment. There is a large performing area with drop down scenery props and musicians' gallery above for the orchestra. The theatre has retractable seating to provide a large open space, together with a separate rehearsal studio. The theatre was designed to provide flexible space, including a bar and box office for evening presentations and performances.

There is a rehearsal studio and grand welcoming entrance lobby/reception at ground floor. There are 3 general purpose classrooms at ground floor level and three specialist art rooms with a graphics design suite to the upper floor, within a light and inspiring environment, owed to its high-level vaulted ceilings.

The award-winning building was voted 'Best Design' at 'The Farnham Society Architecture and Design Awards 2018' and shortlisted for the Waverley Design Awards 2019.
