SHW raises £7500 for its chosen charities in 2023!

SHW News

In 2023 SHW’s staff chose St Catherine’s Hospice to join Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) as their nominated charities for the year. As the inaugural year for the firm to support charities on a 2 year basis, it meant we had another year to raise funds for CALM and maximise the support we could offer the mental health charity.

Ove the year we raised a total of £3750 for each charity. This was done via a number of staff sporting events throughout the year, bake sales and donations from SHW Partners and Clients. We also had volunteers working for CALM at the BMW PGA Championships and assisted St Catherine’s with some tree planting.

St Catherine’s Hospice are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2023, the hospice provides physical and emotional support to people living with a life-limiting or terminal condition in Sussex and Surrey areas. They care for people at their home, in their Wellbeing centre and on their wards. Their reach also extends to the loved ones of those facing illness through support and counselling. They have recently opened their state-of-the-art new hospice facility in Pease Pottage which we all heard about at the last staff seminar. To have a look at the new facility, please click here.

The money raised for Campaign Against Living Miserably will allow the charity to carry out:

  • 7,211 potentially lifesaving conversations via WhatsApp, the preferred service for young people (Suicide is now the leading cause of death for young people aged 15-35)

  • A phone helpline worker for 26.6 days

  • or 468 potentially lifesaving calls on our suicide prevention helpline

Nicola Parkes from the charity said, "It's been an absolute pleasure to work with SHW for the last two years, and it’s always lovely to come in and catch up with the team. On behalf of everyone at CALM, thank you so much to every single staff member at SHW for your fundraising efforts - it’s thanks to corporate partners like you that we can continue to be there for those who need us most".

A huge thank you to everyone who donated.
