SHW completes freehold sale of prominent North Laine corner property in Brighton
Retail & Leisure
Acting on behalf of its client, SHW has completed the freehold sale of 70 Trafalgar Street, a prominent corner property in Brighton’s North Laine. The sale secures a purchaser for a highly visible building in one of the city’s most established independent retail and mixed-use locations, close to Brighton station and the wider city centre.

Previously configured as a house in multiple occupation, the property offers the opportunity to be repositioned back into a retail-led building with residential accommodation on the upper floors, subject to the necessary consents. Its corner prominence, strong passing footfall and location within the characterful North Laine area make it well suited to a future mixed-use scheme.
SHW comment
Alexander Denning of SHW said: “Prominent corner properties in North Laine rarely come to market, particularly those offering this level of visibility and future potential. This sale demonstrates the continued demand for well-located assets in Brighton, especially where there is scope to enhance the building and reintroduce an active retail frontage alongside residential accommodation above.”
