Shedding old warehousing for C21st reboot

Building Consultancy

Until recently an SHW corporate client had two badly dilapidated adjacent old motor repair units in Spindle Way, Crawley (pictured, inset).

That was until SHW Building Consultancy were instructed to project manage a complete rebuild - transforming it into a cutting-edge 5,734 sq ft unit complete with many features required in the modern logistics workplace including:

  • Removal of existing roof cladding components and replacement with new insulated trapezoidal cladding and insulated roof lights
  • Demolition of internal offices and construction of new ground and first floor office space
  • Installation of new insulated cladding panels over existing masonry walls
  • New double glazed curtain wall to corner of north elevation
  • New double glazed windows and doors
  • New insulated roller shutter doors
  • External works to create new car parking spaces

Our client said: "Instructing SHW to manage this project alongside finding a tenant was particularly attractive as past experience has shown the Agency and Building Consultancy arms of the firm work very well in tandem. This is the second time SHW have carried out an industrial renovation on our behalf."

SHW Building Surveyor William Pidgeon said: "The unit will be available from October 2019, and in the meantime marketing has commenced and we anticipate a range of high calibre tenants will express interest."
