SHW Give First UK McDonalds a New Lease of Life
Commercial, Retail & Leisure, SHW News
The first McDonalds to open in the UK will be staying with us a little longer as SHW agrees new letting in London’s Woolwich.

SHW, on behalf of the landlord of 56/68 Powis Street, Woolwich, has secured a new lease of life for Ronald and friends. Opening in 1974, when Harold Wilson was Prime Minister and David Essex topped the charts, the Woolwich restaurant was also the 3,000th McDonalds in the world at the time.
Ian Campbell of SHW, says: “After the expiry of the second of two 25-year leases, we were instructed to agree terms for only the third lease on the property in 50 years. One can only wonder how many burgers have been flipped in that period.”
