BRAMBLE STRIKES FRUITFUL DEAL IN THORNTON HEATH

Development

A new development of 58 homes adjacent Thornton Heath station is set to get under way later this year after Bramble Estates and PA Housing exchanged contracts on the land with vendor Kenexa Estates.

The 0.5-acre site on Brigstock Road has consent for four residential blocks of between five and nine storeys, together with 1,606 sq ft of ground floor commercial space and parking for 100 bikes.  All the homes will be offered as affordable London rentals.

SHW and Watts Holt were joint agents in the sale and SHW obtained planning for the scheme.

Richard Plant, head of SHW's Croydon office, said: "This is Bramble Estates' second major housing deal in Thornton Heath in recent months. It's a very well-connected site, right next to the railway station, and with all the amenities of Croydon city centre just over a mile away."

Brian Culank, managing director of Bramble Estates, commented: "It is always a pleasure working with Richard and we are very much looking forward to delivering these affordable homes for PA Housing."

PA Housing, a 24,000 strong Registered Provider, has growth plans to build 6,000 new homes by 2030 for rent and shared ownership across London, Surrey and the Midlands.

Pete Beggan, assistant director of new business at PA Housing, said: " PA has been successful in securing several new sites for homes in Croydon over the past 18 months and, despite a challenging 2020 with Covid, we are pleased to have exchanged contracts and are looking forward to breaking ground and building a further 58 homes for London affordable rent in the borough."
