SHW Planning recently achieved consent to build four two-bedroom and five three-bedroom homes and ground floor commercial space on the site of a 14,445 sq ft former South Croydon kitchen showroom.
The new builds will be set in landscaped grounds with adjacent children’s play space.
The Planning application met all of Croydon’s Council’s high development standards including Sequential and Exception Tests - specialist reports demonstrating why a particular site is the most suitable for development in a specific area. SHW Planning produced these reports internally showing the depth of expertise in the Department.
The proposal proved popular with the Council and residents alike. The Council welcomed the family units within the development, and approved the proposed under delegated powers. During determination a resident living opposite the site called SHW asking how to register their interest in buying one of the units should permission be forthcoming! The Council approved the proposal under delegated powers.
SHW Planner Julia Mitchell said: “The site provided an excellent opportunity to provide family accommodation in a sustainable location. I was delighted to work with the client and secure a high quality consent.”
