The Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993, as amended by the Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Act 2002, widened the opportunity for residential leaseholders to extend the lease of their flat or to collectively acquire the freehold of the their building along with other leaseholders.
