Grade II Listed Care Home – Eastbourne, East Sussex
![]() |
On behalf of the Trustees of the Royal Alfred Seafarers’ Society, Stiles Harold Williams was instructed to advise on the disposal of 5-11 Hartington Place, Eastbourne. Four Grade II Listed former town houses, within a Conservation Area, had been interlinked and converted for use as a care home in 1965. The property comprised 19,027 sq ft over five floors, with a small garden area.
Stiles Harold Williams had to satisfy its client’s Charity Act commitments and prior to marketing, letters of comfort were carefully obtained from both the local planning authority and the beneficiary of restrictive covenants over the use of the property and alterations to it.
Offers were invited by informal tender and the property was sold on an unconditional basis. The trustee with property experience advised that the Society’s decision to appoint Stiles Harold Williams was “more than validated”.
